Sustainable winemaking methods are integral to our values and we strive to work in ways that are gentle on the environment, without compromising quality and integrity. Caring for the land is fundamental to our people, both the owners with the reverence with which they regard their lands, and our staff who adhere to the strictest of standards. Our vineyards are certified by Sustainable Winegrowing NZ, our organisation is CEMARS accredited and all of our wines have carboNZero certification.
As a sign of our commitment to our environment, our vineyard and winery are Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ) certified. SWNZ is managed by New Zealand Winegrowers — New Zealand's national wine industry body.
The SWNZ programme was developed to provide a best practice model for environmental sustainability in the industry. Displaying the SWNZ logo guarantees you that environmentally sustainable practices have been used from the vineyard to the bottle.

CEMARS certification (Certified Emissions Measurement And Reduction Scheme) is where all of our greenhouse gas emissions are accurately measured and managed in a manner that reduces them over time. For integrity and assurance, our measurement is independently verified prior to certification.

Our wines have achieved carboNZero certified products status. This means that we have measured both our organisation’s greenhouse gas emissions and the greenhouse gas emissions of the lifecycle of our wines. We have then made a commitment of managing and reducing these emissions by creating a plan that manages, reduces and mitigates the net climate change of our wine down to zero.
carboNZero accreditation provides us with an independently verified and certified carbon neutral product. When you purchase a bottle of our Tohu wine, you can be rest assured that it has a zero net greenhouse gas effect on the environment.
